The First Lady Chardonnay is 92% fresh and breezy, with 8% oaky formality - just enough to let you know that it would be a mistake to underestimate her! It’s our tribute to the working women, who understand the energy it takes to be tough in the boardroom, but calm around the house.
It’s all about the apples and pears over here. Like the grapes used in our First Lady Sauvignon Blanc, these Chardonnay berries are picked at the coolest time of the day, and almost all fermented in stainless steel. But unlike our Sauvignon Blanc, this little number is left on the lees for 100 days to build up lovely texture on the palate. Then, as a cherry on top (not literally), a small component is fermented in oak barrels and blended in to add a touch of oak spice.
