Product Notes
This is something of a South African Icon, incredibly popular for its generous, indulgent fruit. The quality is consistently high, and the price remains very favourable. In the quality vs. value stakes, this features highly on the list and punches well above its price point.
A Rhône-inspired blend of Syrah with Grenache, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon and a splash of Viognier, the wine was originally made by blending various plots from across the Cape, but for a few years now, the wine has been produced exclusively with fruit from Swartland. This change has seen an uptick in quality; with less pressure to harvest a wide range of plots spanning a huge distance, the Boekenhoutskloof team have much more control over their output.
The 2024 vintage once more promises excellent precision, power and fruit, all culminating in a very well-made Chocolate Block that hits all the right notes.
Syrah/Shiraz (73%), Grenache (11%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), Cinsault (5%), Viognier (1%)
