The 2012 Reserve Red consists of 100% Syrah assembled from the most interesting and expressive barrels of the vintage. The fermentation involved 35% whole clusters selected in concrete fermentation tanks and crushed by foot. The remaining grapes were bunch selected and de-stemmed over the crushed whole clusters. Spontaneous fermentation occurred and the wine was transferred for 24 month barrel ageing in 2nd fill 300l French barriques.
Elegant aromatics of fragrant white pepper, anise, violets and potpourri are balance on the nose lead with blackcurrant and fennel seed on the palate. The wine has textured, smooth tannins which with bottle age will integrate further. Layered fruits of the forest and tamarind spice linger on the palate. This wine will best reward with drinking from 2016 until 2025.
