AA Badenhorst Bokveld Pinot Noir 2018

2018 Bokveld PINOT NOIR

Vineyard: This vineyard was planted in the high altitude Kouebokkeveld area.  Ceres Plateau is the name of this appellation. The soils are classified as Glenrosa type which is a gavelyl leiklip (shale type) well drained soil. The vineyard was planted in 2007. 

Vinification and elevage: the grapes are sorted meticulously in the vineyard and transported in small picking boxes to a refrigerated container where they are left overnight to cool. The entire volume of grapes is destemmed and fermented in small bins with occasional half pigeage attempts during the active fermentation. After 30 days on skins the wine is pressed into 500l casks for a maturation of 11 months. Bottled without filtration or fining.

The Bokveld is one these wines.
We only produced 460 bottles of this wine in 2018. It possesses some of the hallmarks of good Pinot Noir.
