Thank you for visiting us and welcome to 2010!

I was lucky enough to attend the University of Cape Town South Africa - home and neighbour to some of the most beautiful and welcoming vineyards and wineries in the world.  Initial inebriation-focused forays soon changed into an appreciation of the nectar of the grape.  I started collecting red wines from the great 1978 South African vintage and have never looked back.  I have been involved in some way or another in the wine industry in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand for over 20 years since 1987, and started Planet Wine in 2002.

Louise Ayrey worked with me at Corbans and has been a key supporter over the past 5 years.  She is very adept at juggling her three young children, her husband and her ad-hoc roles with Planet Wine.

Our focus is on boutique wineries from renowned wine regions around the world and niche alcoholic beverages. 

We have visited most wine regions of the world and met the owners of most of the wineries Planet Wine represents.  We work with people we like and who have a similar quality ethic and goal of building strong brands, patiently.  Essentially, our goal is to build a community of wine people - suppliers, Planet Wine people and customers.  I trust that you will find wines and other products of interest in our portfolio.  We also import high quality extra virgin olive oil from a few of our wine suppliers.  More recently, we have added unique liqueur brands, Cuban Rum and one of the world's top vodkas (www.uluvka.com) to our portfolio.  Later this year we will see the arrival of Patxaran and brandy from Spain as well as a raft of wines from Spain and Italy which were sourced at the recent Alimentaria and Vinitaly Wine Fairs.

We host tastings on an ad-hoc basis.  If you register on our website we will invite you to the next tasting.
