CHAMPAGNE MARGUET PÉRE ET FILS

… is located in Ambonnay, a famous Village of the Montagne de Reims, Champagne, France. 

Marguet Champagne was founded in about 1875 by Emile Marguet.  Champagne Bonnerave Frères was founded in 1905 by the great-great-grandfather of Benoit Marguet-Bonnerave.  In 2005, Marguet -Bonnerave became Marguet Pére et Fils. Benoit Marguet is the the fifth generation of Marguets to lead this Champagne house.  

Our grapes are sourced primarly from Premier Cru and Grand Cru villages.  Some of the grapes come from our own vines: of the Marguet family (villages of Verzenay, Mailly and Sillery) and of the Launois-Pertois family (villages of Mesnil sur Oger, Oger and Cramant), which all provide splendid Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.  In addition, we have a number of partnerships with friends who are known to be very careful vine growers.  This allows us to source additional high quality grapes from highly esteemed villages such as Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzy, Mareuil sur Ay, Rilly la Montagne and others. 

I have been interested in natural and organic vine growing for some time.  This is not only a personal passion but this approach enhances the natural balance of the soil and, because the vines perform better in this environment, results in grapes with better flavours.  Our vine growing partners also adhere to this approach. 

In our cellars, the imperative and my obligation is to produce Champagne wines of intense finesse and with the best aromatic balance.  Each cuvee is a creation, each one with its own style. There is no real hierarchy between them, simply varied qualities, to be appreciated according to the moment and the seasons.
