MILLAMAN ESTATE

Italian immigrant José Canepa bought the Hacienda El Condor in Peteroa, Chile in 1946 and began producing fine wine, olive oil, and fresh fruit. In 1998 the desire to expand and create a new company based on Hacienda El Condor’s vitivinicultural tradition gave rise to Viña Millaman. Peteroa’s great agricultural richness results from the combination of the area’s ample water supply provided by the plentiful and occasionally violent Mataquito River along with its temperate climate, which allows numerous species to flourish.

The winemaking heritage is clearly evident at Hacienda El Condor. The winery’s ancient adobe walls and traditional manor house reflect our centennial roots, and the vineyards date back more than 75 years. The name Millaman comes from the local indigenous language, Mapudungun, and means ‘Golden Condor’ because this national bird is a common sight at the estate.
