SPEARGULLY

SpearGully was established by Tony and Michele Jordan with the aim to produce limited quantities of varietal wines from their own Yarra Valley vineyard as well as blends using fruit from other high quality regions selected for their varietal expression and structure. The SpearGully vineyards were established and surround their house in the hills above the Yarra Valley.

The Shiraz style that SpearGully makes is not over-ripe or big like so many other Australian shiraz wines. It shows fruit ripeness and a soft elegant structure. Emphasis is placed on complex shiraz varietal characters expressing a sympathetic balance between fruit flavour, oak and soft ripe tannins.

The future aim is to produce two shiraz styles: one sourcing grapes from the current vineyards in Heathcote, McLarenVale and the Yarra Valley and another purely from the Yarra Valley.

Tony and Michele were selected as one of 5 finalist winemakers in the Wine Enthusiast Wine Industry Awards in September 2006.
